This is such a good question 🙂 Science doesn’t come naturally to some people, and there will always be specific parts of science that students struggle with. I really struggled with Physics when I was at school, and I found Chemistry really difficult too.
I would encourage students to explore lots of different areas of science – there are literally hundreds of branches of science, and finding one that you are interested in will make things feel 100 times easier! If you want to go into science as a career it’s important that you study subjects that are linked to science, but it’s also important that you enjoy what you’re doing and don’t feel down or stressed when you’re going to your lessons. I’d just say to do your best, try to find new ways of learning (YouTube videos always really help me understand things that I can’t get my head around on paper), and find the area of science that suits you best. For me that means working in clinical trials – so I use a lot of analysis skills but barely any standard Chemistry or Physics, and it suits me very well 🙂 Other people will find other areas of science that fit with them. Enjoyment and interest are so important!
