Thank you for asking! The thing I’m best at talking about is myself, after all!

I am currently deciding whether I want to continue to be a research scientist after my PhD. I have been doing this for for about 10 years now, and I feel I want to use my skills to help people more directly, and do a job that involves more direct impact.

Currently, I’m thinking of joining a university course in Speech and Language Therapy and becoming a speech therapist in the health service. This would involve using my knowledge of psychology to help people learn to speak. This really excites me at the moment because I still feel I want to get more education and knowing I can use it to make an impact to people’s lives could make me even happier than working as a researcher. But, the door is never closed on science – I could always become a research scientist again in the future even if I leave so I’m probably not leaving forever!
