The sea bed or sea floor.
There are some seriously weird creatures (mind you, they would probably say that about us) living on the ocean floor in the deeper seas. These creatures must survive in extremely harsh conditions, such as hundreds of bars of pressure, small amounts of oxygen, very little food, no sunlight, and constant, extreme cold.

The sea bed, but what’s on the sea bed is actually a bit of a mystery to us! We actually know more about the surface of Mars than we do about the ocean floor – the conditions are very harsh so the creatures that are there are probably very weird looking.
One example of a creature that we do know about is a lanternfish, they have their own little ‘headlights’ that allow them to emit their own light by a process known as bioluminescence.

Did you see Blue Planet II? I was pretty amazed when David Attenborough showed us that there are lakes at the bottom of the sea! If you missed it, watch this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI9TC4hcSLk
