P.S. I don’t think there’s any certainty that the sun will blow up the planet…

Oh that’s such a sad way of looking at things! Firstly, the point in life is not just to reproduce – people that can’t reproduce for any reason are still able to live long and happy lives 🙂 Also, the sun isn’t going to blow up any time soon, so you still have a happy life ahead of you. The meaning of life differs for different people, but for me it’s about making a difference to the world around me, and enjoying myself. Working in science is definitely one way to change the world for the better, but I also find it enjoyable too 🙂

Smarties…….that won’t happen for millions of years, if at all. So no point in worrying about that. Go out there, have fun and change the world for the better.

The sun is not estimated to engulf the earth for a long time yet in the region of 5 billion years!
Philosophers have been trying to answer the question what is the meaning of life ever since we were able to ask the question. OF course there is the answer 42 see: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/history/42-the-answer-to-life-the-universe-and-everything-2205734.html

It is true that for plants and animals the main driver of life is to pass on their genes to the next generation (by reproduction) but most are not actually conscious of that decision.

I would ask you, does there need to be a point?
