The is so much research going on into Cancer/ Oncology at the moment – it is a fast-paced research area! Back in June it is was reported with great excitement the results of a successful clinical trial using patients immune cells to cure their own cancer: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/health/breast-cancer-cure-tcell-immunotherapy-tumour-treatment-disease-world-first-a8382806.html
In can take up to 10 years of testing for a new treatment to get approved to be used, and only 1 in 12 treatments on average get approved. So I am hopeful that we are getting closer to a cure, but with there many different types of cancer these days it could take a while until we cure them all.

I really hope so! Cancer is not just one disease though – cancer cells can act differently depending on where they are in the body and what has caused them to be cancerous, so it’s actually a case of trying to cure lots of different diseases that are all quite similar. We’ve definitely come a long way in treating cancers like breast cancer, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and skin cancers but pancreatic cancer for example is proving tricky. There are thousands of researchers working on these diseases all over the world though, so we are definitely making progress 🙂
